ATTOCK - A professor of a private college here has been booked on the charges of blasphemy after an enquiry into the matter.

During a press conference, Punjab College students alleged that Professor Hafiz Tahir Naeemi who joined this college a month ago used blasphemous words while teaching a class.

The matter was brought into the knowledge of the principal who got the issue settled. However, the students alleged, the professor again used blasphemous words against the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and also made caricatures on the black board. They said he had escaped when the students protested against the alleged blasphemy.

Later, DPO Israr Ahmad Abbasi took notice of the protest and constituted a three-member committee consisting of DSP Hafeez Aulakh, DSP Shafiq and Inspector Ghulam Shabbir to look into the matter. The committee interviewed different students and in the light of their statements, the professor had been booked. Police are raiding different places to arrest the accused.
