SADIQABAD (Staff Reporter): A girl was gang raped after being abducted from her house here the other day.

According to police, Khanzadi, a resident of Haider Colony told the city police that she was at home when her neighbour Mansab Bibi came to see her. “I asked my daughter to make tea for her at which Mansab Bibi also went to the kitchen to help her,” she told the police, adding when tea was poured into cups, Mansab Bibi asked her daughter for water. She alleged that when her daughter turned to take water for her, Mansab Bibi mixed some intoxicants in the tea. “As soon as we fainted after taking the intoxicated tea, her accomplices Gogi, Khizr and others also came to our house and abducted my daughter,” she alleged, adding they took him to a hotel where the accused Akmal Ali and Hashmat raped her and threw her outside the house. The police have started investigation into the incident.

KBP for withdrawal

of notices

HAFIZABAD (Staff Reporter): The Kissan Board Pakistan has protested against imposition of dual taxes and demanded the government to withdraw the notices issued by the Board of Revenue under the Income Tax Act. Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, KBP Vice President Aman Ullah Chattha questioned the logic behind dual taxation.

Mr Chattha appealed to the government to withdraw the notices issued for the recovery of income tax and relieve the grower of mental agony.

Woman raped, accused held

KASUR (Staff Reporter): A woman was raped in Pattoki here the other day.

According to police, the affected woman, a resident of Naroki Mahija, told the Pattoki Police that she was on the way to Malanwala to see his relatives when the accused - Thakur Maseeh and Yousaf Maseeh -took her to a haveli where Thakur Maseeh raped her. The police arrested the accused and started investigation.

MAN KILLED: A man was killed in collision between motorcycle and tractor-trolley here the other day. According to the Chunian City Police, two brothers - Ashraf and Rashid - were on the way to Lahore on a motorbike. As they reached near Mir Kot, the motorbike collided head-on with a tractor-trolley. As a result, Ashraf was killed on the spot while his brother got injured critically.

Woman dies at age of 110

OKARA (Staff Reporter): A woman who can be described as the oldest in the country, passed away here at the age of 110 years.

Saba Bibi was a resident of Chak 27/4L Shabhore, some 15 km in the south here from district headquarters. The deceased woman was laid to rest in a local graveyard. Her funeral was attended by hundreds of people from the area.

According to her son Mahr Ghulam Murtaza, they are nine siblings - three brothers and six sisters. The deceased woman was survived by 34 grandsons and granddaughters.

TBA strike

SADIQABAD (Staff Reporter): The Tehsil Bar Association observed strike against the delay in the allotment of space for lawyers’ chambers at Sadiqabad Judicial Complex here.

The lawyers boycotted courts proceedings and held a general house meeting. On the occasion, TBA President Rana Anwar Zubair, secretary general Shakeel Akram, spokesman Abdul Rauf Solangi and others demanded the government to allot space for lawyers’ chambers at the judicial complex.
