KARACHI - Sindh Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that all minorities, including Hindus, have complete freedom to follow their religions and rituals in Sindh.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he said the news about exodus of Hindus from Sindh was baseless. He said the constitution of Pakistan and Pakistan People’s Party’s manifesto guaranteed protection to the rights of minorities. He said it was needless to say that minorities had complete freedom to follow their customs and traditions in Pakistan.

Chawla said, “Worship places of the minorities have full security and renovation of minority worship places is in progress across the province.” He condemned the unprovoked firing and shelling on the Line of Control by Indian forces and said, “We all are united to defend Pakistan.”

About closure of wine shops in Sindh, the minister said the matter was in the Supreme Court and expressed the hope that the court would consider the case on merit. He said the Excise and Taxation Department of Sindh had accelerated raids on the liquor sale points in line with directives of the Sindh High Court.
