MIRPURKHAS - Payment of salaries to over hundred government teachers resumed on Tuesday after the district education officer (DEO) primary (Mirpurkhas) categorically stated that no teacher would be denied salary without his orders.

The affected teachers felt jubilant when they learnt about the DEO’s order.

Sources said the District Accounts Office of Mirpurkhas,

on the directives of taluka education officers, had stopped payment of salaries to over hundred government primary and middle school teachers, including female teachers.

When the affected teachers complained, the DEO Syed Wajid Ali Shah ordered an inquiry, which disclosed that the salaries had been stopped illegally, as he (the DEO) was only authorised to withhold the salaries as per law. Sources added that the DEO had also complained to the secretary education about the conduct of Taluka Education Officer Haider Bux Nizamani and other taluka education officers.
