Rawalpindi-A large numbers of residents yesterday staged a protest demonstration against gas load shedding and demanded the government to provide them gas during winters.

The protest demonstration led by PTI City General Secretary Zaheer Ahmed Awan was staged at Zafar-ul-Haq Road along with residents of Chaklala Ward 1, Mohala Hukamdad, Sethi Colony, Asif Colony, Sharjah Ground, Mohala Mehmood Ali Shah, Chah Sultan, Tehmasababad and Ammar Pura.  The protestors blocked the road for traffic and chanted slogans against the government and high-ups of ministry of petroleum and natural resources and SNGPL. Zaheer Ahmed Awan and other speakers while addressing the protestors said the aforementioned areas have been facing intense gas load shedding.

They said gas was only available from 12am to 5am. They said the families could not even prepare a cup of tea.

They said the old people were ailing after performing abolition with cold water. They said it was difficult for poor residents of the area to buy food from hotels or arrange coals and wood for burning fire in their houses.

They said they have brought the matter into notice of GM SNGPL but no action was taken so far. They asked the government and SNGPL to end gas load shedding or else they would set up protest camp outside SNGPL office on GT Road.
