Good news for book lovers

LAHORE - The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) arranged its annual book fair on Wednesday.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha inaugurated the two-day book fair while Librarian Muhammad Aslam, Prof Dr Asim Aslam, Ms Abeeda Zia and a large number of students, faculty members and book sellers attended.

Total 12 stalls were set up at the fair and book sellers and publishers displayed a variety of books including livestock, literature, IT, social science and also books stock on relevant fields of Veterinary sciences like Anatomy & Histology, Animal Nutrition, Clinical Medicine & Surgery, Dairy Technology, Public Health, Fisheries Aquaculture, Food Sciences Human Nutrition, Livestock Production, Microbiology, Parasitology, Pathology, Poultry Production, Wildlife and Ecology, Biochemistry Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Science, leather & fiber Technology, Statistics & computer Science, Environmental Science and Policy Management etc. Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) also set up a stall and displayed handicraft varieties.

UVAS organises various competitions regarding Iqbal’s Day

Qirtas Literary Society of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore organised various competitions regarding Iqbal‘s Day with the theme of Nashist-e-Iqbal here on Wednesday.

In Nazam competition, Aliza Fatima won the first position, Umair Sultan got the second while Zeeshan secured the third position.

In Tahtul Lafz competition, Aliza Fatima won the first position, Aiman Ramzi got the second while Samra Gillani stood on third position.

In Bait Bazi competition, Institute of Biochemistry & Biotechnology (IBBT) team won the first position and Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPS) team got the second position.

In Sketching competition, Atika Alvi won the first position, Ifrah Irshad got the second and Mehreen Hamid took the third position.

In Calligraphy competition, Abdullah won the first position, Javeriya Khalid got the second while Asad Munir stood on the third position.

Renowned poet Zahid Shamsi and Cartoonist Jawed Iqbal were the chief guest on the occasion.

Later, Zahid Shamsi and Jawed Iqbal along with Vice Chancellor UVAS Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the concluding ceremony and distributed shields and certificates among the winners of all competitions.
