PESHAWAR - Unidentified gunmen shot dead a head constable on Charsadda Road in the provincial capital on Monday.
The gunmen fled the scene after killing head constable Amjad Khan near Khazana village while he was going to office from Shabqadar area. The cop died on way to a hospital.
A search operation was launched in the area soon after the murder.
Later, funeral prayer for the cop was offered at the Police Lines and attended by KP IGP Moazzam Jah Ansari, Minister Shaukat Yousafzai, SSP Operation Haroon Rasheed, CCPO Abbas Ahsan and others.
On the occasion, IGP Ansari assured the bereaved family that the case is being probed and the killers would be arrested soon.
He said that while probing such incidents during the last three months, the police had found out a few groups involved in attacks on police and actions were underway for their arrest.
