KARACHI - The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), on Friday, arrested seven officials of the Sindh Home Department, Foreigners Registration Branch and Passport Office Karachi for extending visas of Indian nationals without following the legal procedures. The racket was also accused of corruption. According to an FIA official, investigation was conducted (into the matter) after the agency was tipped off by its Anti-Human Trafficking Unit Assistant Director Sohail Faiz about the issuance of fake Indian visas at the passport office. Afterwards, the passport office in Saddar area was raided, in which two officials, namely Aslam Baig, Habibur Rehman, and a travel agent Mehmood Ali were arrested, said the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. Later, on the pointation of the arrested culprits, a team raided on the Home Departments Passport Section, where Monitoring Cell Superintendent Naseem Siddiqui and stenographer Noor Muhammad Shah were taken into custody. After investigating them, FIA officials reached the Foreign Registration Office in Sharah-e-Faisal area and nabbed two officials, Sub-Inspector Khursheed and Ghulam Mustafa. The FIA official further said that a stash of documents, including British, Malaysian, Bangladeshi, Indian and Pakistani passports with extended visas and fake credentials, was confiscated during the forays. The arrested culprits were allegedly involved in a racket of illegally extending visas to Indian nationals to make big bucks. The (accused) men were serving at their posts for several past years. We moved against them after gathering sufficient evidence. Other sources in the FIA expressed fear that Indian spies might have entered the country with the assistance of these officials, raising serious security threats. They added that these officials had also links with officials at the Wahgah Border. Eunuch shot dead; A eunuch was shot dead near Abdullah College in North Nazimabad Police precincts. The incident took place at Block-C, North Nazimabad near Abdullah College. Raju, 22, alias Talha was buying cigarettes from a shop, when two bandits came and tried to snatch his cellphone. A bandit opened fire as he offered resistance. He died on the spot. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medicolegal formalities. SHO Asim Siddiqui said victim was the resident of Sector 11, Orangi Town and was a eunuch. Later, the body was handed over to the heirs. No case was registered till filing of the report. In another incident, an elderly man was crushed to death at Natha Khan Railway Crossing in Drigh Road Railway Police precincts. The victim 70-year-old Nazeer Khan was the resident of Jahangir Road. He was crossing the railway track of Natha Khan, when speeding Hazara Express crushed him. He died on the spot. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
