LAHORE The Lahore Transport Company on Saturday reiterated that 211 buses of international standard would be available in the City very soon. Addressing a passing-out parade of 90 newly-recruited Transport Enforcement Inspectors, LTC Chairman Khawaja Ahmed Hassan said that these inspectors would play effective role in maintaining the traffic discipline in the City. He stated that 90 Transport Inspectors had been recruited on merit for the implementation of the traffic-enforcement system of urban transport. These inspectors will be deployed in City for facilitating the commuters and operators in order to carry out the lawful transport operation in Lahore. The LTC chairman further said the newly-appointed inspectors had been given professional training on modern lines in order to face the challenge of traffic discipline maintenance. They have been equipped with police-like and Rescue training. They can also play important role in meeting the health-care emergencies, Hassan added. He assured that the LTC was committed to providing affordable and efficient transport system in Lahore. He said that 211 buses of international standard would soon be available on Citys various routes. Due to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharifs vision, national and international transport companies are taking a keen interest in making huge investment in Punjabs urban transport sector, said Hassan, who is a close ally of Shahbaz Sharif. Addressing the inspectors, he hoped that they would play key role in generating awareness of traffic discipline, taking action against unlawful traffic and encroachment on bus stops. He said that 60 Transport Inspectors would be given professional training soon. A Chinese firm had offered Punjab its CNG buses. The firm, YUNMA, was to supply 250 to 300 buses every month. The firm is already working in the CNG sector in Pakistan in collaboration with its local partners. It offers 18-month warranty on its buses, which have modern technology, security cameras, separate seats for women and speed limits to avoid accidents.
