KARACHI - Anti-Corruption Court, Karachi, yesterday issued arrest warrants for PPP leader and former federal minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim for not appearing before it in the TDAP corruption case.

The TDAP (Trade Development Authority of Pakistan) corruption case came up for hearing before the Karachi Anti-Corruption Court against Makhdoom Amin Fahim, former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani and others.

The court issued arrest warrants for Makhdoom Amin Fahim as he did not appear before it during the hearing of the case. The court ordered his arrest and production before it on next hearing. Yousuf Raza Gillani appeared before the court along with his counsel Farooq H Naik and sought extension in his bail.

The court reserved judgment on the plea seeking extension in the bail, which will be announced on November 19.

The court, while extending the bail of Yousuf Raza Gillani in other cases, put off hearing of the TDAP case till November 19.

Yousuf Raza Gillani, talking to media persons outside the court, said the government was victimising him politically. “But we respect the courts, so we are appearing to defend ourselves. We are not emotional people and do not hesitate to appear in the courts. We have appeared in the courts earlier for the sake of their respect and will appear in future, too.”

He said, “I accept this case was instituted during the PPP government, but my name was included in this case later as political vendetta.
