Rawalpindi - As part of the Muharram security plan, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sajid Zafar Dall has imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi district for two days.

A ban has also been imposed on the use of loudspeaker, wall-chalking, distribution of hate material and pillion riding, a spokesman informed media yesterday.

The restriction will come into effect from October 23 to October 24 to maintain law and order during Youm-e-Ashore, he said. However, journalists, families and old aged will be exempted from the ban.

Meanwhile, Rawalpindi police following the instructions of City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi put foolproof security arrangements in place to guard the processions and majalis of 8th Muharram.

All the roads and streets leading to the routes of processions have been sealed by placing heavy containers and erecting barbwires. Police have blocked all the roads leading towards Qasar-e-Shabbir Imambargah to provide security to the procession of Muharram. SP Potohar Division Muhammad Ateeq Tahir supervised the security arrangements.
