rawalpindi - The students of department of fine arts and designs of Government Postgraduate College for Women, 6th Road, yesterday displayed their theses at college’s auditorium.

The exhibition assembled the work of the BS (Hons) as part of their class projects and activities throughout the semester. As many as 8 students have displayed their thesis work in the exhibition, besides many other students showcasing class activities in a beautiful manner.

This year’s thesis display consisted of work by of fine arts department i.e. using media like photography, illustration, design and painting.

The exhibition of Thesis Work 2016 was inaugurated by college principal Prof Dr Alia Sohail Khan and other guests whereas college faculty including media manager Maheen Jafri and Ayesha were also present.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony Prof Dr Alia Sohail Khan, who was also the chief guest, congratulated the students for completing their thesis works in a spectacular manner. She said artists are the people with full of energy, ideas and want to batter for the society.

She said the artists are the people who keep an eye on every change and fashion in the society. She said artist is the agent of change. “The road traffic accidents have increased due to carelessness of youngsters who often show stunts of motorcycles and drive cars recklessly,” said Memoona Jahangir. She displayed her art work titled ‘Safety Go’ while highlighting the needs of observing traffic rules.

“The northern areas of Pakistan are most beautiful and attractive and the local and foreigners must visit Gilgit, Skardu and Hunza to see the beauty of nature,” said Bushra Maryam, the graphic designer whose thesis was about Hunarmand Hunza.

She said the people of Hunza are skilful and she displayed their skills though here photography work. She said she visited several areas in twin cities and took photographs of Hunza culture and made part of her art work.

Zainab Naheem, a student whose thesis topic was Dastan-Hear The Unheard, told The Nation that she highlighted the socially neglected old people as well as the drug addicts. She said the parents and the other people hate such mentally retorted or drug addicts whereas she tried to create awareness among general public to love and care these segments of the society.

Qurat-ul-Ain Farooq was the student who invented an app titled “doo doo” saying she wanted to teach the children through games and other funny activities. “Diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes a person’s blood sugar level to become too high and most of the people are careless about the decease,” said Anjuman Islam, a BS (Hons) student whose thesis topic was Organico Bakers. She said she prepared a complete dietary food table of bakery products for the patients suffering with diabetes.
