LAHORE Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khwaja Muha-mmad Sharif has constituted a Division Bench headed by Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chau-dhry to hear the surety cases of former Chairman OGDC Adnan Khwaja and former DG Intelligence Bureau (IB) Brig (r) Imtiaz Ahmad. As per background facts in brief, the Supreme Court hearing cases was ones informed that they were exonerated in the reference of corruption against them on the basis of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) but the cases against them stood reopened after the NRO was invalided by the SC but they failed to furnish the surety against their revived sentence. On this the court had directed the both to furnish fresh surety bonds after they were taken into custody in the court room on Tuesday. It may be recalled that Brig (r) Imtiaz was awarded eight years imprisonment in 2001 and the LHC had set him free on bail while Khwaja Naveed was awarded two years jail which the Islamabad High Court had spended. Now they have moved the LHC to furnish surety bonds on which the court has set up the said Bench for taking up the matter on September 23 (today).
