The law secretary, Masood Chishti, has stated that the president enjoys immunity under that law and that cases against him cant be initiated or even re-opened while he is president. The secretary also stated that the constitution doesnt allow such a move against the president. This statement was made in a written summary that the law secretary sent to the prime minister regarding the re-opening of Swiss cases against President Asif Ali Zardari. The law ministry has done this on the orders of the Supreme Court. The ruling said a summary be sent by September 24 to the prime minister to re-open Swiss cases against the president. Earlier, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court requesting the withdrawal of orders to re-open Swiss cases against the president. The petition had stated that the Supreme Courts orders are in conflict with international law.
