LAHORE - Chairman Pakistan Film Exhibitor Association (Punjab) Zauraiz Lashari has urged the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to issue the notification of abolishing 65 per cent Entertainment Tax on screening of foreign films. Addressing a Press conference at Lahore Press Club here on Wednesday, he said the committee, which was constituted by the CM under the chairmanship of PML-N spokesman senator Pervez Rashid, had sent the summary a two and half months back but that was not processed yet. He said on the other side Excise and Taxation Department has warned them to seal the cinemas if the cinema owners did not pay tax till September 25. He further urged the CM to issue the immediate orders to abolish the entertainment tax so that the employment of thousands people who were working with the industry, could be saved. On the occasion, Chaudhry Saleem Sarwar, Shahbaz Khan, Nasir Ismael, Safdar Khan, Chairman Cinema Management Association Qaisar Sana Ullah and representatives from Faisalabad and Multan were also present.
