Simon Cowell has strong competition for the Christmas no.1 spot in the form of unlikely contender Samuel L Jackson.

Yep, that’s Samuel L Jackson the movie legend.

Whereas Cowell times the final of his music juggernaut to tie in perfectly with the Christmas no.1 announcement, the Avengers star is hard at work on a charity single for the same week which will bring together a host of A-list celebrities and knock all other competition out of the water.

And Samuel isn’t afraid of Si and his high trousers: ‘I have been in Simon Cowell’s presence and he can find talented people. ‘He has had Christmas No1s with X Factor acts but there were a couple of times the show was beaten.’ While Samuel doesn’t think he’ll be lending his own vocal chords to the track, which is set to be recorded soon at Abbey Road studio, likely contenders to get involved could be Tinie Tempah and Paloma Faith, who have both worked with One For The Boys charity which the single is for. ‘I don’t think my singing will ever sell anything and my rapping is even worse!’ he joked to The Sun. ‘Having me on the song won’t help at all. “We have started approaching people and I’ve called in a couple of favours.’ One things’s for sure, Si has been beaten before and he could be beaten again.

Remember back in 2009 when Rage Against The Machine knocked X Factor winner Joe McElderry off the top spot with their 1992 track Killing in the Name?

One For The Boys is a charity which gets men talking about diseases including from testicular and prostate cancer.
