Pakistan welcomes KSA offer for mediation on Kashmir issue

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has welcomed a statement by Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud for mediation between Pakistan and India for resolution of their longstanding issues. "Pakistan welcomes any such initiative for resolution of outstanding issues including the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir,” Foreign office spokesman told The Nation yesterday. The spokesman was asked to comment on the latest statement of the Saudi Minister for foreign affairs which he made in India where he is currently on an official visit. He said it's India which never accepted any mediation offer for resolution of longstanding issues including Kashmir. The Saudi foreign minister made this offer in his interview with Indian newspaper The Hindu and said KSA is ready to mediate between Pakistan and India for resolution of outstanding disputes between the two countries. It may be recalled here that several world leaders including former US President Donald Trump and UN Secretary General António Guterres have offered mediation between Pakistan and India but it was turned down by India.
