ISLAMABAD Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani appreciated the services being rendered by the Motorway Police and urged them to focus on educating the road users regarding road safety measures. The Prime Minister was talking to Inspector General National Highways and Motorways Police Khalid Farooq who called on him at the PMs House this afternoon. While underlining the importance of observing merit and transparency in running affairs of any department, the PM stressed that merit should be made the hallmark of Motorway Police. The PM stressed for better rescue as well as ambulance operational facilities to minimize the rate of causalities due to accidents. He promised that govt would provide all possible resources to the Motorway Police to make it more resourceful to ensure safe journey. The PM also underscored the need for more in-service training and capacity building courses to further improve the efficiency of staff for better service delivery. The IGl briefed the PM on the various initiatives undertaken to further modernize the Motorway Police to bring maximum road safety to the people and to provide timely relief in emergency.
