Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that over 1800 MW would be saved owing to energy saving measures adopted by the government.He said the recent steps would not only help end unscheduled load-shedding but also reduce scheduled load-management about 33 per cent, said a statement issued here.He said that the government would ensure its decisions were implemented in letter and spirit.The minister said additional gas would be provided to the power plants, enabling them to enhance their generation. Maximum energy was being diverted to industries and agriculture sector as they were playing vital role in national economy, he added. He said that work on other power plants was in full swing to add more and more electricity to the national grid which would help bridge gap between supply and demand. Pervez Ashraf said only alternative street lights would be switched on to save energy adding that power would be disconnected to billboards and sign boards.
