KARACHI Promising player Maheen Dada clinched her first title when she won joint boys/girls Under-13 final defeating Azher Abdul Qadir 8-6 here on Friday on the Deco turf court of Beach View club tennis courts. The Sindh Tennis Association is organising the championship which is sponsored by Pizza Hut for the sixth year running and has recently introduced under 13 event in which boys and girls of the age could enter and play against each other. Playing against nationally ranked Sara Mansoor in the final of womens singles Maheen Dada as expected, lost in straight sets 6-0, 6-1. In the last set, she managed to hold on to her serve to clinch one game which was commendable. Sara Mansoor who came here from Islamabad won Rs. 7000 for taking the crown and Maheen took Rs.3000. Winners and runners up of all the events are getting cash prizes from the total prize money of Rs. 70,000. Top seed and favourite Aqeel Khan won mens singled final after losing seconds set to his youngest brother Yasir Khan 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Aqeel Khan has already won mens doubles thus completing a double in the competition. The title made Aqeel rich by Rs. 17,000 while Yasir Khan took Rs. 8000. Mustafa Zaidi won junior under 17 singles title along with Rs. 4000 in prize money. He defeated Hamza Pataudi 6-4,6-0. Results.
