Pakistan assured IMF that power tariffs would be applied from April 1, no matter whenever electricity prices are increased. Pakistani delegation has arrived in Washington to meet IMF, World Bank and Asian Development bank delegation. IMF board meeting was scheduled to be held on March 21 but it was postponed because power tariffs were not increased by Pakistan on April 1. It is reported that Pakistani delegation is meeting IMF officials this week. Whereas IMF board will decide to transfer the fifth tranche in the meeting scheduled to be held in the mid of May. According to sources, World Bank and Asian Development Bank has assured IMF that Pakistan will resolve the issue of power tariffs hike, implementation of value added tax and circular debt.
