LAHORE - Turkish scholars and writers attending International Literary and Cultural Conference at Alhamra have lauded the role of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for promoting bilateral relations between Pakistan and Turkey. The head of Urdu Department in Istanbul University, Dr Khalil Tokar said that the Punjab CM had deep affection with Turkey, and he was very popular among the Turkish people. He thanked Shahbaz for the role he had been playing for further strengthening the ties between both the countries. He said that Turkish President Abdullah Gul spent most of his time in Lahore during his recent visit to Pakistan due to the special efforts of Shahbaz Sharif. He said that the Turks also loved the people of Pakistan and had deep respect for Sir Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Research scholar of Urdu Department of Ankara University Dr Jalal Soidaan said that the CM Punjab had worked relentlessly for promoting the relations between Pakistan and Turkey. Head of Urdu Department of Jamia-al-Azhar, Cairo, Dr Ibrahim said that it was an honour for him to have had a meeting with CM Shahbaz Sharif.
