LAHORE – Elimination of crime from the society is the joint mission of police and the media and it could be completed only through the mutual cooperation. The IG Punjab expressed these views while addressing to an 11 members delegation of Electronic Media Reporters Association (EMRA) at CPO on Monday. The IGP said that media has become a very powerful pillar of Pakistan and the way media is exposing the criminals and highlighting the issues we are getting guidance from their reporting.

The IGP further said that he had great hopes from the media that it will highlight the shortcomings of the department side by side and it will also encourage the positive activities and major achievements of the police department.

The IGP ensured the delegation that senior police officers will trained the media persons for crisis reporting. He also said that to enhance the cooperation between the media and police, special seminars will be arranged and monthly interactions would also be organised regularly so that the distance between the media, public and police could be bridged.

He also assured the EMRA body that a comprehensive strategy would be adopted to provide security to the journalist and their equipment in future.
