Karachi police claim to have arrested a suspected ‘serial killer’ and his aide who were allegedly involved in the heinous crime of  murdering and dismembering bodies of four women and a 6-year-old child. According to police sources, the suspect, Muhammad Rafiq, who was a rickshaw driver, used to target his women passengers riding alone. He kidnapped the women and killed them after allegedly raping them, cutting up their bodies into pieces and dumping them in different areas of the city. Rafiq was arrested along with his aide from Karachi’s Soldier Bazar area in a joint operation by the police and the Special Investigation Unit (SIU). “He has confessed to killing four women,” a senior police officer said, adding that after slaughtering the women the ‘serial killer’ had been dismembering the bodies and dumping at different areas. Packed in plastic bags, three bodies of women have been found from Guru Mandir, Soldier Bazar and M.A Jinnah Road over the last three months. Officials say Rafiq, who belongs to Sukkur city of Sindh, has also revealed that a six-year-old child was among those slaughtered by him. Police were investigating into the horrifying murders. They are still clueless about actual motives behind the inhuman act, just attributing it as a ‘mental instability’. During the past few days, cut-up body parts of two women were found dumped in different areas of the city. Police sources further said that a woman was also recovered from the suspects, and the criminals were being further interrogated.
