According to media reports Pakistan’s former captain Mohammad Yousuf, Shoaib Malik and wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal will be selected for the tour of Sri Lanka which will start in June. Pakistan coach Dav Whatmore is showing interest in these players. But if we look into the players’ fitness it looks that Dav Whatmore is not aware of their recent performances. Mohammad Yousuf has not played cricket for a long time. Shoaib Malik failed in the recent international matches and has only performed in domestic T20 tournament which is not justified for the selection. Kamran Akmal dropped hundreds of catches as a keeper which cost Pakistan many matches. Kamran’s batting was good but the thing which matters the most is the keeping. If Kamran Akmal is again selected as a keeper then he has to prove himself behind the wicket. It will be good for Pakistan cricket team if new or those players which are performing in four day format of domestic cricket are selected. Instead Hammad Azam should be given a chance in the Sri Lanka tour. If team management has any plan to take experienced players then Abdul Razzaq should also be considered. Although, his bowling has not worked, he is still far better than Shoiab Malik.
