Armed men create panic in courts

HAFIZABAD-Panic seized the District Judicial Complex premises when about 15 people including a former union council nazim opened indiscriminate fire and threatened an advocate of dire consequences.
However, no one was hurt. On the complaint of DBA President Abid Fayyaz Tarar, the police have registered a case against Malik Ghulam Hussan Sharo, Tasawar Billa, Mushraf Shah, Adil Mohal, Mujahid Najaf, Rai Shahbaz, Waqas Viky, Ali Nasir, and six others but no arrest has so far been made.
ACTION AGAINST ABSENTEES ORDERED: District Coordination Officer Mansoor Qadir has directed the officers of the Education Department to take stern action against the absent teachers adding that instead of imposing ordinary penalty and stopping of annual increments, the teachers found inefficient and showing lack of interest in the performance of their duties be dismissed under the PIDA Act.
Addressing the meeting of the District Education Review Committee, he said that due to leniency being shown by some officers, the desired results were not being achieved. He said that there should be no compromise on merit and efficiency and those teachers who indulge in politics should be taken to task so that there would be visible improvement in their performance. He directed the officers of the department to perform their duties without fear or favour so as to achieve the desired results.
MINOR CHILD ABUSED: A minor student was allegedly sexually abused by a fiendish youth. According to police source, 12-year-old Aqeel of Mohallah Qazipura was lured away by accused Zaheer Ahmad to a deserted place where the accused forcibly sodomised him.
