SC curses SMART cops

LAHORE  -  The Supreme Court Wednesday ordered Ferozewala Police to release a man who was implicated in the theft took place 11 year ago. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani heared the the case at Lahore Registry. Police submitted the report to the court, saying accused Javed Ajmal was arrested after 11-year hectic efforts. However, the counsel for accused told the court that the police implicated his client in a fake case, though he was not nominated.
Ordering the release, the chief justice remarked that the arrest of an innocent after 11 years of theft showed police performance.  Justice Sh Azmat Saeed also rued police performance.
