KHYBER AGENCY - Jet fighters pounded militant hideouts in Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency and killed 20 suspected terrorists including three suicide bombers on Thursday.

The airstrikes were conducted by the jet fighters in Mehraban Kalley, Sra Waila, Dwa Toai, Rajgal and Kokikhel areas of Tirah Valley .

The forces sources in a statement issued to the media said, in selected air offense, suspected sanctuaries of the militants were targeted and heavy loss of lives was inflicted on militants. One ammunition depot and three suspected hideouts were also destroyed in the bombardment, sources said. The casualties, however, could not be confirmed through independent sources due to remote area.

Following clearance of lower areas of tehsil Bara, the forces have kicked off full-fledged purge operation against militants in Tirah Valley , the bordering and mountainous area of Khyber Agency.

Agencies add: “In precise aerial strikes in Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency, 20 terrorists including 3 suicide bombers were killed and hideouts of terrorists including their ammunition and ration depots were destroyed,” the ISPR said in a brief statement. According to sources, more than 1,000 terrorists have been killed in the military operations so far in North Waziristan and Khyber Agency.


APP adds: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have apprehended 601 suspects and recovered arms during the ongoing search and strike operations conducted in the province under National Action Plan.

According to police in Peshawar, a total of 601 suspects have been arrested during the efforts aimed at eliminating anti-social elements from the province.

Police also searched 728 houses and 220 hotels besides arresting 46 Afghan nationals not having required documents.

Security inspections of 867 educational institutions were also carried out and directives were issued for enhancing security arrangements.
