Cox says he had month to bulk up for superhero role

Los Angeles - He plays the ‘Man without Fear’, but Charlie Cox has been without a gym membership all his life. The actor - who stars as Daredevil in the Netflix-Marvel series - spoke to Lorraine Kelly about getting in shape for the superhero role. ‘I’ve never had a gym membership and had about a month before I started the job,’ Charlie, 32, told the Scottish presenter on ITV’s Lorraine. ‘I had to spend a lot of time filling out as much as i could and putting on weight, Most people who go to the gym are trying to lose weight!’ As blind lawyer Matt Murdoch by day and crime-fighting vigilante Daredevil at night, Charlie had to work hard to accurately portray how a true blind person would function in each scene. ‘I worked quite extensively with a blind coach whose been legally blind for twenty years,’ the actor said. ‘During the day Matthew Murdoch has to maintain the illusion that he’s a blind person.
So the cane technique needs to be appropriate and how he finds thing on a table etc.
He added: ‘On the other side of things, when he’s alone or with people who know about his superheroness and his heightened senses, he operates better than a sighted person but without the use of his eyes.’
Charlie has been busy promoting his first leading Netflix series in London and was spotted taking photos and signing autographs with fans outside of his hotel on Wednesday.
