ISLAMABAD - Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has taken oath as acting Chief Justice of Pakistan. The oath was administered by Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa in a simple but dignified ceremony at the Supreme Court in Islamabad on Saturday.

Justice Mian Saqib Nisar will act as Chief Justice of Pakistan during the period, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Chief Justice of Pakistan remains abroad.

The ceremony was attended by judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Chief Justice and judges of Federal Shariat Court, Chief Justice and Judges of Islamabad High Court, Attorney General for Pakistan, Senior Lawyers and Officers of the Federal Judicial Academy and Law & Justice Commission of Pakistan.

Arbab Muhammad Arif, Registrar, Supreme Court, conducted the proceedings of oath-taking ceremony. Officers and staff of the Supreme Court of Pakistan were also present on the occasion.

After the end of ceremony, replying to a question of media persons, Justice Saqib Nisar said that Chief Justice Jamali has received the letter and on his return would decide about constituting a commission for the investigation of Panama leaks.

Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali in the morning left for Turkey to attend the ceremony regarding 54th Anniversary of Turkish Supreme Court. He will come back on May 1.
