ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that the relief activities could be organised in a better way if the Federal Government had set up the proposed flood commission. He made these observations while talking to the members of the PML-Ns Central Flood Relief and Rehabilitation Committee here at the Punjab House. Nawaz said the party had given sincere recommendations to the Government to provide relief to the flood victims. He said that the implementation of these suggestions could have proved a milestone in reviving the national unity and helping the flood victims. He said the Government, however, did not pay any heed to their suggestions. He was of the view that despite huge losses, such calamities also provide an opportunity to the nations to unite themselves. We have to utilise that opportunity to forge unity among our ranks and move in the right direction, he said. Nawaz said that PML-N was moving in right direction by utilising all its energies to provide relief to the flood-hit people of the country in this hour of need. He said PML-N would stand by the flood victims and continue its relief work till rehabilitation of the last victim family. He said a transparent mechanism should be adopted for distribution of relief goods. The meeting decided that the relief Committee would send 200 truckloads of the relief goods for the flood affectees on the daily basis. The Committee also decided to send the partys provincial leaders to the areas, where flood is subsiding now, to make estimates of losses. It was also decided that Nawaz Sharif and other party leaders would conduct visits to the flood-hit areas.
