PU declares MA/MSc admission schedule

LAHORE - The Punjab University has announced admission schedule of MA, MSc, two years programme in affiliated colleges alongside admissions for two years MA, MSc, replica, afternoon and self-supporting evening as well as BS 4 years programme. The last date for submission of forms is September 3 for MA, MSc, and September 14 for BS programme. According to details, the admission in affiliated postgraduate colleges has begun and the applications forms will be received up to August 31 followed by entry tests/interviews. Admissions would be completed by September 14 without any late fee. The classes will start from September 15. The admission in affiliated colleges with late fee of Rs300 can be taken from September 16 to September 27, with late fee of Rs400 from September 28 to October 7 and with late fee of Rs500 up to October 22 subject to the approval by the Vice Chancellor. Meanwhile the colleges are devising their own entry tests and admission criteria. As the government is taking no lenient view on the poor result of BA, BSc, and MA, MSc, in government colleges, the admissions will be made purely on merit for which a criterion is being evolved. The Principals are holding meetings for student intake in various disciplines of MA, MSc, on merit. In MAO College, the entry test for MA Psychology will be held on September 1, Economics, Mathematics on September 2, English and Urdu September 3 and Mass Communication on September 4. The 50 per cent marks in the relevant subject in BA, BSc, entry test 25, interview 10 and five marks for 1st division, three for second and 2 for third division in BA, BSc, Inter, Matric will be counted in the formulation of merit. Almost the same formula will be followed by the government postgraduate colleges. The Principal Prof Syed Irfan Hussain Zaidi has announced a special fee remission for talented but poor students saying no student should discard studies because of financial constraints. He urged the teachers and staff to identify such students. Meanwhile, the admission in FA, FSc, in govt colleges is briskly continuing. The second merit list will be displayed on August 25 and the third list on Sept 1. The Intermediate classes will start after Eidul Fitr when the colleges will re-open after summer vacations. The intermediate result of the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education will be announced on September 4 following which the admission for BA, BSc, two years programme will begin, to be completed before September 30.
