PESHAWAR - Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti has said that rehabilitation of flood affectees and areas, settlement and reconstruction are governments top priorities and all resources including that of annual developmental programme will be utilised for this purpose. He expressed this while chairing a meeting of provincial cabinet at Civil Secretariat Peshawar on Monday. Senior Provincial Ministers Bashir Ahmad Bilour and Rahim Dad Khan, Chief Secretary, Secretaries of Establishment, Law, Information and Finance departments, Principal Secretary to chief minister and other high officials were also present. Damages due to flood in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were reviewed during the meeting and important decisions have been taken regarding settlement and rehabilitation of affectees. The chief minister said flood devastation in our province is collectively 180 to 200 billion and annual developmental programme will be sacrificed if not supported. He said special directorates have been established in various departments to monitor reconstruction and rehabilitation activities. He said no officer would be spared for any misconduct in this connection. The chief minister also agreed suggestion of utilising resources of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa construction programme for welfare of flood affectees in concerned constituencies. He said, We need to serve our affected brothers beyond politics in this time of challenge. The chief minister said compensation of affectees deaths and houses after rescue and relief is our foremost responsibility which will be completed at all cost. Moreover, he said the amount for deceased has been increased from 100,000 to 300,000 and directed all DCOs for completion of process of verification and figures of flood affectees within one week. He further added that review meeting would be called every month for reviewing rehabilitation, settlement and compensation distribution in order to assign responsibilities. He said committees comprising concerned patwari, teacher, peoples representative and representatives of revenue department and army have been established in order to serve all the needy. The report of Cabinet committee, formed for development of Peshawar, has been put up during the meeting and cabinet approved the report. He said flood had also destroyed Wapda installations and discussions would be made for power restoration with Wapda authorities. Collective fateha was offered on request of chief minister for son of Mian Iftekhar Hussain, FC Commandant Sifwat Ghayoor and flood victims in beginning of the meeting.
