LAHORE – Three members of a family were wounded seriously when the roof of a double-storey building caved in in the Shahdara Town Police area, rescue workers said on Thursday. 

Rescuers said that three people including one woman identified as Irshad, Bilqees Bibi, and Majid sustained serious injuries when the rooftop of the dilapidated building collapsed on them. The rescue workers reached the spot soon after the incident and shifted the inured to a nearby hospital.

WOUNDED: A security-guard sustained serious bullet injuries when his gun went off accidentally in Defense-B police precincts. Falik Sher was cleaning the gun at a house when it went of all of a sudden. The security guard was admitted to a local hospital, where his condition was reported to be serious till Thursday night.

FOUND DEAD: A 50-year-old man was recovered dead from Tibbi City area, police said. The man, yet to be identified so far, was lying dead alongside a footpath on early Thursday. Police investigators believed that apparently, the man was a drug addict. The police have removed the body to the morgue for an autopsy and are investigating.

Over dozen arrested in guesthouse raid: City police raided a guesthouse-cum-brothel located in Defense Housing Authority (DHA) area and arrested over a dozen persons including foreigners as they were found in objectionable condition, police sources said on Thursday.

Sources said that a police team raided the ‘guesthouse’ located in J-Block of DHA in Defense-A police vicinity after Wednesday midnight and arrested the men and women, who were drunk and found in objectionable condition. They further said that the police searched all the rooms of the hotel and also recovered bottles of liquor from their possession. The police have registered a case against 11 men and women. Further investigations are underway.

Robbers snatch away fabric-loaded truck:  Robbers held up a truck-driver at gunpoint and snatched away fabric worth millions of rupees from the Shera Kot Police area.

The driver, Muhammad Amin, told the police that he was on his way to deliver the fabric to a trader when four gunmen stopped him at a road and snatched away the fabric at gunpoint after loading the cloth in another vehicle. The police are investigating.

22 criminals arrested: Mujahid Squad claimed to have arrested 22 criminals involved in narcotics, possessing illegal weapons, aerial firing, hooliganism and registered 18 cases against them during Eid days.

The force also recovered 8 pistols, four rifles/pump actions, 152 bottles of liquor and hundreds of rounds from the outlaws, Mujhaid Squad spokesman told APP on Thursday.

SP Mujahid appreciated the performance of those officials who were deputed at 15 during Eid days.

dead: A 28-year-old man was found shot dead from his car alongside a road in Chuhng police precincts, police said on Thursday.

The man was later identified as Sahibzada Nizaum-Uddin, a resident of Wapda Town. Police investigators said that Sahibzada, said to be an employee of a leading engineering company, was lying killed in his car (LXR-126) with bullet injuries in the head as they reached the crime scene. Some passers-by told the police that a young girl came out of the car and managed to escape, seconds after the driver stopped it alongside the road late on Wednesday night.
