HAFIZABAD/MANDI BAHAUDDIN/SHEIKHUPURA - At least 13 people including a girl were killed and 145 were injured in different parts of Hafizabad and Mandi Bahauddin districts during the past 72 hours.

According to Rescue 1122 sources in Hafizabad, Khalid Abbas, a resident of Ghari Awan, was returning from Qadirabad barrage along with other family members in a car. Meanwhile, the vehicle overturned, resulting in the death of Khalid Abbas and his 10-yearold niece Rabia Noor instantly. In the second mishap that took place on Pindi Bhattian Road near Sindhwan Tarar, one Kameer Hussain was killed and his wife sustained critical injuries when their bike SGK-7985 was hit by a speeding van LES-9116. Meanwhile, the police source said that a young man identified as Nadeem Ahmad committed suicide following a quarrel with his wife here in Sukheke. Similarly, hospital sources said that more than 75 people were injured while doing wheelies and were rushed to different hospitals.

Most of the injured were discharged after necessary treatment while Zain Ali, M Ashraf, Ghulam Muhammad, Ahmad Farooq, M Shabbir, MUmar, Bushra, Iqbal, Naheed, Saddam Hussain, M Zubair and Irshad were admitted to DHQ Hospital.

In Mandi Bahauddin, Three persons including an advocate were gunned down over an old enmity in village Lakha Kadhar Garbi in the Qadirabad Police precincts while a boy drowned in River Jhelum.  Reportedly, Advocate Delawar Hussain and his two friends - Rafaqat and Bilal were sitting at his Dera. In the mean time, three armed culprits appeared all of sudden and let off a volley of bullets, killing all three on the spot. The Qadirabad Police have registered a case.

Meanwhile a four-year-boy drowned in River Jhelum.  According to details, the boy was standing on the bank of Rasul barrage when his father was attempting to capture his picture. Meanwhile, the boy slipped into the river and drowned. The body was recovered from Rasul-Qadirabad link Canal near Hellan Village. Similarly, at least 70 people sustained injuries in more than 52 road accidents across the district during Eid holidays. Most of the accidents occurred as a result of collision between motorcycles while doing wheelies. According to Rescue 1122 sources, the injured were evacuated to nearby hospitals.

In Sheikhupura, five people were killed in various incidents in different parts of the district.

According to details in the first incident which took place on Faisalabad Road in the limits of Bhiki Police, a Sheikhupura-bound speeding van hit two underage motorcyclists near Kadlathi More. As a result, 15-year-old Usman and his 13-year-old cousin Javed received critical injuries. They were removed to DHQ Hospital. However, Usman succumbed to his injuries on the way. The incident occurred when the van was negotiating a sharp turn.

In another incident a youth was torture to death by his three real brothers over a monetary dispute. According to information reaching here, a youth namely Shan, a resident of Chak 10/UCC had some financial differences with his brothers.

On Thursday, Khan Muhammad and two other brothers of Shan had a quarrel with him over the monetary matter. They started to beat Shan and during the scuffle he received a fatal punch and died on the spot. The Sharqpur Police registered a case against Khan Muhammad and two others and started investigation.  Jamal Pasha who received fatal bullet injuries some 12 days ago during a clash with his stepbrother over a property dispute succumbed to his wounds at DHQ Hospital. According to details, Nadeem Jamal had a property dispute with his stepbrother.  On the day of the incident Nadeem was busy in his shop situated at Main Bazaar when suddenly his stepbrother came and started using abusive language.  In the meantime he opened fire injuring Nadeem. He was removed to DHQ Hospital where he breathed his last after fighting 12 days for life. The City B Division Police started investigation.

Meanwhile, a man was electrocuted in Kot Ranjeet in the limit of Saddr Police when he was chopping fodder for cattle.

According to details, Siddique, a resident of village Kot Ranjeet some 4 km away from here, was busy chopping fodder when he incidentally touched a live wire. As a result he received severe electric shocks and died on the spot. In another incident in the same village, a teenager was shot dead by a man incidentally. Reportedly, Shahbaz and his wife went into argument over a domestic issue. Meanwhile infuriated Shahbaz fired on his wife. However, the fire missed her and instead hit a youth identified as 15-year-old Ehtisham who standing nearby the quarreling couple. He sustained fatal bullet injuries and died on the spot. The police are looking into the matter.
