HAFIZABAD - Floodwater has eroded over one dozen houses in village Burj Bhain near Qadirabad Headworks, besides inundating Kot Saleem, Peer Kot and Kot Kameer. However, no loss of life was reported. Meanwhile, DCO Muhammad Asif along with MPA Asadullah visited the partly affected villages.According to the Headworks officials the discharge of water was at 132,849 cusecs and there was no danger to the villages situated in the river belt area.On the other side, the district administration has made arrangements to handle the situation in case of high flood in the river Chenab. According to official source, the Health and Livestock departments have established special camps near affected villages to assists the villagers.The administration has set up nine relief centres in the area and made all precautionary measures and have put all the officials of revenue, health, livestock and other elated departments on red alert. The DCO has warned the officials concerned strict action against negligent personnel. The source further said that in case of high flood in the river, 166 villages consisting of 0.3 million people would be affected.
