lahore : The Lahore High Court on Thursday disposed of a petition of three private tour operators and directed ministry of religious affairs to allocate Haj quota on merit. Imran and other tour operators had filed a petition through their counsel submitting that they duly paid their income tax but the ministry declared them ineligible for Haj quota.
They stated that the ministry was not issuing clearance certificates to them as well. They said they approached the ministry time and again but their grievance was not addressed, and requested the court for orders to the ministry to award them Haj quota.
Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial recorded initial arguments and directed the ministry to allocate Haj quota to the petitioners if they had not defaulted on income tax and meet the criteria.
