SC moved against poor show in Olympics

LAHORE – The Supreme Court has been requested for judicial probe into abysmal performance of Pakistani players in Olympic Games 2012.
Barrister Zafarullah Khan on behalf of Watan Party filed the petition and said that Pakistani players brought bad name to the country by returning without winning any medal in the games.
Poor performance of players had saddened the nation whereas some small countries having not too much facilities, showed good performance. The petitioner said pointing out further one of the reasons of country’s defeat was apathy of the government functionaries and their improper attention towards the games.
He alleged players were not selected on merit and pick and choose policy was followed by government officials, while huge money of tax payers was wasted on the players who produce zero result. He prayed the court to order for a judicial inquiry by a retired judge of Supreme Court to probe the issue to fix the responsibility, and strict action also against the responsible government officials.
