PTI to hold protest camp against ‘by-poll rigging’

LAHORE - The PTI leadership has announced holding protest demonstration and set up a hunger strike camp against the alleged rigging in bye-polls of PP-150 at Faisal Chowk in front of the Punjab Assembly today (Saturday).  PTI Punjab President Ijaz Chaudhary, Opposition Leader Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed and Aslam Iqbal made this announcement on Friday while addressing a press conference after Returning Officer of PP-150 rejected the application of PTI candidate Mehar Wajid Azeem for recounting in the said constituency.  Wajid was also present on this occasion.
PTI leaders alleged that the PML-N candidate in PP-150 defeated their contender by rigging the polls.
They claimed that irrelevant persons had deposited the results of over 40 polling stations to the Returning Officers of PP-150, which was a clear indication of rigging.
They remarked that the PTI bagged two seats of Punjab in the bye-polls, which reflects no confidence of the people in the PML-N.
The PTI leaders maintained that they would defeat the ruling party in the local bodies’ polls.
Meanwhile, the Returning Officer PP-150, rejecting the recount application of the PTI candidate, Mehar Wajid Azeem said that he should move the Election Tribunal.
