ISLAMABAD - The overall voters’ turnout in recent by-elections stands at 36.48 per cent and 40.19 per cent in National Assembly and provincial assembly seats respectively.

By-elections were held on 15 National Assembly seats and 26 provincial assemblies seats on Thursday last. The Election Commission has withheld the results of two National Assembly seats where re-polling will be held in some polling stations.

As per details issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), total number of seats of KPK Assembly was 4 with registered voters of 486,551 while total voters poled was 179,045 and turnout of total voters polled was at 36.63 per cent. Similarly, total number of seats of Punjab Assembly was 15 with registered voters of 2,474,498 while total voters poled was 891,732 and turnout of total voters polled was at 36.75 per cent. In Balochistan Assembly, total numbers of seats was three with registered voters of 212,135 while total votes polled were 96,743 and turnout of total votes polled was 49.42 per cent. Likewise, total number of seats of Sindh Assembly was 4 with registered voters of 573,147 while total voters poled was 213,011 and turnout of total voters polled was 37.94 per cent.

The ECP has also issued turnout and details of National Assembly (NA) seats where bye-elections were held on Thursday. According to ECP details, total number of NA seats of KPK province was 5, results declared was of 2 as results of three NA seats of the province were withheld. Total registered voters in these NA seats was 683,360 while total voters poled was 153,855 and turnout of total voters polled was at 22.51 per cent with valid votes of 151,845 and rejected votes stand at 2010. Again, bye-election on single NA seat of federal capital was held and result declared. Total registered voters in this single NA seats was 293,555 while total votes polled were 94,257 and turnout of total voters polled was at 32.11 per cent with 94,249 valid votes and only 8 rejected votes. Similarly, bye-elections on six NA seats of Punjab province were held and results of all seats had been declared. Total registered voters in these NA seats was 2,018,764 while total voters poled was 848,120 and turnout of total voters polled was at 42.19 per cent with valid votes of 831,898 and rejected votes of 15,524 in the elections. Moreover, by-elections on three NA seats of Sindh province were held. Total registered voters in these NA seats was 963,368 while total votes polled were 350,538 and turnout of total votes polled was 39.18 per cent with 340215 valid votes of and 10323 rejected votes.

Bye-election on one NA seat of Balochistan province was held. Total registered voters in this NA seats was 185,836 while total votes polled were 65,324 and turnout of total voters polled was at 35.2 per cent with 64,051 valid votes and 1264 rejected votes.
