PESHAWAR -  An important meeting of the working group for reforms in local governments system in Khyber Pkahtunkhwa was held at Pakhtunkhwa House, Islamabad, on Friday.
Besides members of the working group, KPK Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, PTI Chairman Imran Khan, central leaders of the party as well as its coalition parties attended the meeting. The meeting was briefed about the proposed local govt system to be enforced in the province.
On this occasion, various matters related to the devolution of powers to grass root level, administrative and financial empowerment of local community, electoral process, functions and powers of the local bodies including the proposed village, tehsil, and district councils and various other related matters were discussed in detail and a member of important decisions were made to this effect.
The working group was directed to finalize the draft bill of the new system as soon as possible so that it could be tabled in the provincial assembly for approval and schedule for local government elections could be announced without wasting time anymore.
