Nisar takes up Altaf’s statement with British officials

ISLAMABAD - Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Monday night contacted the British high officials and exchanged views regarding last day’s anti-Pakistan speech of MQM chief Altaf Hussain and incident of inciting crowd to agitation.

A statement of the Interior Ministry issued on Tuesday says that the interior minister said the use of British soil by somebody against integrity of Pakistan and was highly condemnable.

He said Altaf Hussain used derogatory language against Pakistan and Pakistani institutions that not only hurt sentiments and insulted the whole nation especially the Urdu Speaking people but he also committed a serious crime.

He said the British government should assist in bringing into ambit of law its citizen (Altaf) who was involved in a serious crime.

Separately, the minister Tuesday asked Director General Rangers Sindh Major General Bilal Akbar to ensure security of all media houses in collaboration with Police in Karachi. The minister phoned the DG and expressed satisfaction on the overall law and order in Karachi and Sindh, said a press release issued here.

He appreciated the performance of Rangers and police to maintain law and order in the province, especially in Karachi.

Nisar said it should be ensured that no miscreant should escape from the law and dare to harass the peaceful citizens.
