RPO refutes reports on child abduction

BAHAWALPUR-The acting regional police officer said that no organised gang was operational here in abduction of children and refuted the media reports in this regard.
Gohar Mushtaq Bhutta said that rumours of children’s abduction were being spread to terrorise the parents. For the elimination of rumours, the media and civil society should play their role, he said.
The acting RPO said that from January 1, 2016 to July 31, 2016, the Police Emergency 15 received a total of 57 calls collectively from all the three districts of Bahawalpur division regarding the child abduction which were found bogus. From August 1 till now, he said. He added that 13 incidents of beating suspected kidnappers have been reported and 5 cases have been registered against the bashers.
The RPO further said that false rumours regarding the abduction of children should be neglected and in suspicion of kidnapping, no one should be beaten however Police Emergency 15 should be informed.
He said that from 1st January 2012 to 18th of August 2016, a total of 106 cases of child abduction have been registered in Bahawalpur District and all of the children were recovered, in District Bahawalnagar, 2 cases were registered out of which both of them were recovered and in the Rahim Yar Khan, total of 42 cases were registered from which 41 children were recovered.
Acting DPO Ghulam Murtaza said that Police Emergency 15 should be informed in case of child abduction and law should not be taken into hands by beating the suspicious persons. He added that only correct calls should be done on 15, strict action will be taken against those intentionally make hoax calls.
