ALEXA Chung, the television presenter hailed for her geek chic, has deposed Kate Moss in Vogues 2009 best-dressed list. The 26-year-old MTV host and former model was praised for her quirky style. Moss, 35, the supermodel who has reigned supreme in fashion circles for nigh on two decades, was relegated to 10th place, only one spot ahead of Lady Gaga. Audrey Tautou, the French actress who starred in Amelie and played Coco Chanel in a recent biopic, was second in the list compiled by Vogue.com. Sarah Jessica Parker was third. Cheryl Cole was a surprise choice at number four. The X Factor judge was ridiculed for wearing a dustbin lid dress and her LOreal adverts came under scrutiny over her prodigious use of hair extensions. Vogue said her choice of outfits for the ITV show earned her some serious cool kudos. Dannii Minogue, her fellow judge, was fifth. Harry Potter actress Emma Watson was sixth, with her modelling job for Burberry cementing her status as a genuine fashion insider. Actresses Sienna Miller, Diane Kruger and Freida Pinto made up the rest of the list. Vogue reserved judgment on Lady Gaga, despite putting her in 11th place. Brave, right, wrong, genius, inspired or just plain silly? Does she pull it off? Who knows. The top 20 also featured Michelle Obama in 14th place. Vogue said she was in a league of her own - her trademark bare arms and belted tunics have earned her comparisons with that other most fashionable First Lady, Jackie O. The French First Lady, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, was 19th.
