It would be of interest to note that whereas the President of Pakistan has an immunity in the Pakistani constitution against being tried in a court of law for corruption at anytime during his tenure, the American constitution does not prescribe any such immunity for President of the Untied States of America. Section 4 of Article II of the Constitution of the United States of America states as under; "The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors". It appears the American constitution is closer to Islamic norms of equality before law as compared to the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. -DR. M.
