LAHORE In a startling revelation on Wednesday, PPP General Secretary Jehangir Badr maintained Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had rejected the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), and hence PPP had nothing to do with it. Talking to the media after appearing in NAB court here, Badr disowned the NRO, saying that PPP did not sign any document to seek benefit from the ordinance. It is relevant to state here that Jehangir Badr is among the major beneficiaries of the NRO, as some cases of alleged corruption pending against him in NAB courts were scrapped after promulgation of this discriminatory law which now stood struck down by the apex court. The PPP leader said he would abide by the Supreme Court decisions and would accept every court order in this regard. We want justice from courts and nothing else, he remarked, adding that he was facing allegation of giving jobs to the jobless people, who were really deserving and poor. He said he faced trial in this case for eight years, but the decision never came. He said PPP was struggling for social justice and now 'we would seek justice from courts for ourselves. He was of the view that all political parties should show respect to each other, rejecting once for all the policy of criticism for the sake of criticism.
