Karachi - An accused of a murder case was killed by his rivals at City Courts premises, while two other people including cop sustained injuries indiscriminate firing, here on Wednesday. The incident occurred at around12:00 noon when the under trial prisoners, Malik Sohail, Hammad Gul and Shahid, were brought to city courts for hearing of a murder case. When accused Malik Sohail, 40 along with his accomplices were returning to jail van under supervision of police party, his rival, later, identified as Khaista Jan along with his three accomplices opened indiscriminate fire on them, said police and eyewitnesses. Resultantly, two UTP Malik Suhail and Hammad Gul and cop Salman Khattak sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to the Civil Hospital Karachi, but Salman Khattak died before reaching the hospital, while the other two injured were admitted there. However, the police caught the accused Khaista Khan, who was trying to flee from the scene, after committing crime; however, his three accomplices managed to flee. The police recovered one TT pistol and four bullets from the possession of arrested accused. The deceased Malik Sohail had been arrested by Baldia town police along with his brother Shahid and other accused Hammad Gul, in case number 11/ 2007 on the charge of murdering one Ahmed Jan. Deceased Malik Suhail was said to an active worker of Pakistan Peoples Party and transporter by profession. He was father of one child. The injured UTP Hammad Gul gave the initial statement to police that Dilbar Ustad, Gulab Khan, Khaista Jan and Bakhat Zaib attacked them at the City Courts, in order to take revenge of the killing of their relative Ahmed Jan. Following the incidents, panic gripped the City Court premises and a stampede-like situation was witnessed. However, a large number of police and law enforcement agencies men rushed there and controlled the situation. DIG South Ghulam Nabi Memon suspended and demoted Inspector Nazir, SHO of City Courts police station, following the incident. No case was registered till filling this story.
