ISLAMABAD PML(Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Wednesday outlined the partys four-Point 2010 Vision during Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting attended by delegates from across the country. Shujaat said his party would follow Quaids vision of upholding the rule of law, freedom of speech, protection of inter-provincial harmony and provincial autonomy, and independent foreign policy for protection of Pakistans vital interests like the nuclear programme and Kashmir. The sayings and principles of Quaid-e-Azam are the manifesto of my party and we would follow this agenda to protect the public interest, he added. He also announced to form a PML (Q) think tank, which would be headed by partys Senior Vice President, Akram Zaki. Shujaat cautioned the PPP leadership against confrontation with judiciary and media, as according to him that would further destabilise the democratic system. He said his party stands by judiciary and the media. We have tabled concrete proposals for strengthening the federation in the Constitutional Reforms Committee meeting, he remarked. Referring to the controversial National Reconciliation Ordinance, Shujaat once again changed his stance, saying that he had disapproved the final draft of NRO. When Mushahid and I saw the final draft of NRO, we opposed it. However, we were told that General Musharraf and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had reached an agreement, so I said that the PML government should be excluded from NRO, he added. He said his visit to Sindh was very successful and people had amassed in large numbers to welcome the PML-Q leaders. We were amazed to see huge crowds at Larkana. We were not expecting such huge crowds in Sindh, he added. He said PML was the only party that had fully backed the armed forces operation in Swat, Malakand and South Waziristan, and PML (Q) leaders had visited IDP Camps and the families of martyrs as well. PML (Q) Secretary General Mushahid Hussain said the meeting had unanimously passed 6 resolutions which expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court of Pakistan for protecting the countrys vital interests by rejecting NRO, solidarity with the media, supremacy of the rule of law, support to armed forces in fight against terrorists and opposition to price hike.
