PESHAWAR - Activists of the FATA Students Federation Monday held a protest demonstration against the ongoing military operation in North Waziristan Agency, outside the Peshawar Press Club.

The protesting students led by the Federation Central President Khan Bahadar, Vice President Burhanud Din Chamkani and members Rohullah Mohmand, Khalid Bajouri, Khalid Orakzai and Javid Afridi were holding placards and banner inscribed with slogans against the ongoing military operation in Waziristan. They also raised slogans to press for their demands and against the military assault.

Addressing the protestors, the FSF leaders said that innocent tribesmen, including women and children were being targeted in the ongoing military operation in the agency. They said that due to indiscriminate shelling and curfew imposed in the area, the funeral of dead bodies was become a problem, as most of the people were stranded.

They said that terrorism was being increased due to the security forces’ unnecessary military operations in the tribal region and the US drone attacks in which mostly innocent people were killed. They also urged the incumbent federal government to follow the way of negotiations with militants instead of using force, as the use of force was not a solution to any dispute.  The FSF leaders also appealed to Chief Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of the extra judicial killing of innocent tribesmen, including women and children and violation of basic human rights in the ongoing military action in FATA.

The protesting activists demanded the President of Pakistan, Army Chief and Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to stop military assault in Waziristan forthwith, otherwise, threatened to launch a countrywide protest demonstration against the govt.
