KARACHI - In the war of words that spilled between the MQM and the PPP over the passage of Sindh Local Government Amendment Bill (SLGA) in Sindh Assembly, both the parties’ leaders alleged each other of carrying their own agendas over passing the bill.

MQM deputy parliamentary leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan in Sindh Assembly said Memon’s recent statement had clearly exposed the plans and tactics of the Sindh government. The PPP is already using state institutions in alleged operation against the MQM, party activists are allegedly being arrested without any evidence while dozens of our workers are still missing.

Government statistics already show that Khairpur, hometown of Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, is on top of the list in Sindh in crime rate, he alleged.

He said the PPP had also negated the people’s mandate in 1970 that resulted in irreparable damage to Pakistan and even today they were marching on the same lines.

He further said Memon should focus on the criminals in Karachi and in interior Sindh who are openly involved in kidnapping for ransom and other serious crimes.
